Sobre este espécimen
Un único cristal de cuarzo, levemente ahumado y con terminación bien definida, lleva una banda diagonal de mica sobre su cara frontal: libros plateados apilados y abiertos en abanico hasta formar rosetas, de gris oliva donde engrosan, con manchas de arcilla beige y un pequeño nudo blanco de cristal atrapado entre ellos. El cuarzo es translúcido antes que transparente, con velos tenues que flotan bajo las caras de la terminación.
El cuarzo (SiO2) tiene dureza 7 en la escala de Mohs, suficiente para soportar sin problema la manipulación corriente, y rompe según fracturas concoideas curvas en lugar de planos de exfoliación. La mica es la mitad frágil de la pareja: se separa en láminas delgadas y elásticas, con una dureza aproximada de 2 a 3 en la escala de Mohs, y basta pasar una uña por una roseta para levantarle las hojas de golpe. Sujete el cuarzo, deje intacta la plata y el contraste se mantendrá.
El ejemplar mide 9,4 × 6,4 × 5,3 cm y pesa 395 g. Nada aquí ha sido cortado, tallado ni pulido: es un ejemplar natural que se ofrece tal como se encontró, y las fotografías de la ficha corresponden a esta pieza exacta.
