Cristales de piromorfita amarillo limón en ramilletes irregulares con forma de barril recorren la cara de esta placa de Guangxi, sobre una costra baja de tonos crema a verde oliva pálido y una roca encajante gris parda teñida de hierro. El color es un cítrico ácido más que el verde intenso que suele asociarse con la especie.

Sobre este espécimen
La piromorfita amarillo limón trepa por el centro de esta placa de Guangxi en ramilletes irregulares, prismas cortos con forma de barril agrupados en rosetas que resultan casi ácidos frente a la costra baja de tonos crema y verde oliva pálido que cubre el resto de la roca.
La piromorfita es un clorofosfato de plomo, Pb5(PO4)3Cl, que crece en los niveles superiores oxidados de los yacimientos de plomo, donde el agua descendente transforma la galena en algo mucho más bonito. Cristaliza en el sistema hexagonal, de ahí los barriles achaparrados, y presenta un brillo resinoso, casi graso, que sienta al amarillo mucho mejor de lo que lo haría uno vítreo. Con 3,5 a 4 en la escala de Mohs se raya con facilidad, así que manténgala apartada de especímenes más duros dentro de un cajón y no frote nunca los ramilletes.
La pieza mide 6,1 cm × 3,3 cm × 4,1 cm y pesa 105 g. Se muestra sostenida en la mano, sin montar y sin soporte: lo que vio la cámara es lo que sale del estante.
