La gibsita azul forma una cresta ondulante a través de la parte superior de una matriz oscura y áspera. Las crestas curvas se superponen como pequeñas ondas, con botones redondeados que interrumpen las bandas más suaves. Por debajo de la cresta, los parches azules más delgados siguen la superficie desigual del huésped, creando una clara transición de crecimiento denso a recubrimiento disperso.
