Yunxiao, Fujian, aquamarine with quartz at 10 cm and 584 g; a cabinet piece with one dominant crystal.
Aquamarine is the blue-green variety of beryl, forming hexagonal prisms with flat terminations; the Chinese material from Xuebaoding and Yunnan pairs it with muscovite and cassiterite.
Rock crystal is judged on termination quality, clarity and how the crystals sit together, and the Chinese localities have raised the bar on all three.
Fujian's fluorite-quartz veins have supplied collectors for two decades; the province is the source of most of the green and purple Chinese fluorite on the market.
Dimensions place it in the cabinet range, 10 × 8 × 5.2 cm (3.94 × 3.15 × 2.05 in) and 584 g (20.6 oz). The specimen is otherwise sold in the condition shown.
