Yaogangxian purple fluorite with quartz and mica at 173 g; a cabinet piece with strong colour.
Fluorite is the classic collector's halide: calcium fluoride that grows as cubes, octahedra and stepped combinations, often with colour zoning that shows best in daylight.
Quartz is the most collected mineral on earth for good reason: sharp hexagonal prisms, bright terminations and endless variation between localities. Mica forms pearly hexagonal books that catch the light between the other crystals.
Few localities carry the weight of Yaogangxian: a Hunan tungsten mine whose fluorite, quartz, arsenopyrite and pyrite specimens sit in every serious collection.
The piece is cabinet in size, 8 × 5.9 × 4 cm (3.15 × 2.32 × 1.57 in) and 173 g (6.1 oz). Otherwise the piece is sold exactly as photographed.
