この標本について
Inner Mongolia fluorite with quartz at 16.5 cm and 1288 g; a large cabinet display plate. A broad plate of white quartz crystals with pale green fluorite cubes scattered across it, one larger cube at the upper right and smaller ones below.
Fluorite is the classic collector's halide: calcium fluoride that grows as cubes, octahedra and stepped combinations, often with colour zoning that shows best in daylight.
Rock crystal is judged on termination quality, clarity and how the crystals sit together, and the Chinese localities have raised the bar on all three.
Inner Mongolia's Huanggang and Chifeng districts produce fluorite, calcite, garnet and rhodochrosite in a lustre and clarity that set the modern standard for Chinese carbonates.
Dimensions place it in the large cabinet range, 16.5 × 14 × 7 cm (6.50 × 5.51 × 2.76 in) and 1288 g (45.4 oz). Condition is otherwise as photographed.
Every specimen here is photographed and catalogued individually before listing.
