この標本について
ごく淡い緑をしたガラス質の蛍石の立方体がひとつ。内部は緑泥石の筋で苔むしたようになり、その芯には暗いファントムの窓がひとつ覗きます。上の稜には、雪のように白い板状の方解石が尾根となって載ります。湖南省郴州、瑶崗仙鉱山産の、まとまりのよい組み合わせ標本です。
目を引くのは内側の暗い立方体です。結晶の途中で捉えられた前段階の成長が、磨いていない天然の面を通してそのまま見通せます。緑泥石が「庭」をつくるこうした蛍石は、色の濃い標本以上に、近づいて覗き込むほど応えてくれます。
寸法は 4.8 × 2.9 × 5.2 cm、重量は 128 g。写真のアクリル台に据えて飾れます。天然のまま無処理。写真は現品です。
