Fujian frosted purple fluorite with quartz at 33 g; a miniature with one velvety crystal.
Fluorite crystallises in the cubic system and is prized for its saturated colour, glassy lustre and the way zoned phantoms appear when the crystals are back-lit.
Quartz is the most collected mineral on earth for good reason: sharp hexagonal prisms, bright terminations and endless variation between localities.
Fujian's fluorite-quartz veins have supplied collectors for two decades; the province is the source of most of the green and purple Chinese fluorite on the market.
The piece is miniature in size, 4.6 × 2.7 × 2.7 cm (1.81 × 1.06 × 1.06 in) and 33 g (1.2 oz). Condition is otherwise as photographed.
