Fujian stepped octahedral fluorite with quartz at 13.9 cm; a display piece in a muted palette.
Fluorite is the classic collector's halide: calcium fluoride that grows as cubes, octahedra and stepped combinations, often with colour zoning that shows best in daylight.
Good quartz is about hexagonal prisms with clean terminations and the glassy lustre that lets a cluster catch light from every angle.
Fujian is China's most productive fluorite province, and its granite-hosted veins also yield the garnet, quartz and calcite that fill modern collections.
By size it is large cabinet, 13.9 × 13.9 × 9 cm (5.47 × 5.47 × 3.54 in) and 940 g (33.2 oz). Otherwise the piece is sold exactly as photographed.
