Yunnan crystallised calcite at 16.8 cm; a display piece with a warm, sparkling surface.
Calcite is the most shape-shifting of common minerals: over 800 crystal forms have been described, and Chinese localities produce many of the best.
Yunnan's copper and lead-zinc districts produce the azurite, malachite, pyromorphite, hemimorphite and blue aragonite that define Chinese secondary minerals.
Dimensions place it in the large cabinet range, 16.8 × 11.2 × 9.1 cm (6.61 × 4.41 × 3.58 in) and 1162 g (41.0 oz). Otherwise the piece is sold exactly as photographed.
Carbonate: never clean with acid or vinegar.
