Fujian dodecahedral purple fluorite with quartz at 34 g; a small cabinet piece with a rarer fluorite form.
Fluorite is the classic collector's halide: calcium fluoride that grows as cubes, octahedra and stepped combinations, often with colour zoning that shows best in daylight.
Quartz is the most collected mineral on earth for good reason: sharp hexagonal prisms, bright terminations and endless variation between localities.
Fujian is China's most productive fluorite province, and its granite-hosted veins also yield the garnet, quartz and calcite that fill modern collections.
By size it is small cabinet, 5 × 3.3 × 2 cm (1.97 × 1.30 × 0.79 in) and 34 g (1.2 oz). The specimen is otherwise sold in the condition shown.
