Galeniet pronkt zelden zo: skeletachtige, hoppergegroeide kubussen waarvan de vlakken als getrapte lijsten zijn aangelegd in plaats van als gesloten vierkanten, met een zacht blauwgrijs patina over het blinkende metaal eronder. Ze stapelen zich over een knoop van messinggele chalcopyriet, en uit de tussenruimtes barsten waaiers van naaldscherpe, waterheldere kwarts naar buiten als rijp.
Skeletgroei ontstaat wanneer de ribben van een kristal sneller groeien dan zijn vlakken, een kenmerk van snelle kristallisatie, en verzamelaars waarderen galeniet in deze habitus veel hoger dan de gebruikelijke massieve kubussen. Blauw metaal, goudkleurig sulfide en heldere kwarts vormen een drievoudig contrast met werkelijke uitstraling op miniatuurformaat.
Het meet 3,7 × 4,2 × 4,2 cm, weegt een voor dit formaat forse 85 g en staat op de afgebeelde acrylsokkel. Vindplaats niet vastgelegd, verkocht zoals ontvangen. De foto's zijn gemaakt van dit exacte specimen.
