Een vuurwerk van staal: uit dit specimen uit Hunan barsten honderden metallieke stibnietlemmeten in uitwaaierende bundels naar buiten, sommige naaldfijn, andere zo breed als een zwaardkling met de karakteristieke lengtestreping van de soort, en alle samenkomend in waaiers die opwaarts wegvegen van een grijze, botryoïdale chalcedoonbasis. Met ruim 20 cm breedte en 1,36 kg is dit een echt kabinetpronkstuk.
Hunan bepaalde de moderne maatstaf voor stibniet, en grote waaiers op matrix zijn lastiger te bemachtigen dan losse lemmetgroepen, zeker met de terminaties nog gaaf. De bobbelige chalcedoononderlaag is een attractie op zich: een zacht grijs landschap waar het metaal uit opgroeit.
Stibniet (Sb2S3) is zacht en de lemmeten zijn kwetsbaar; dit stuk zit stevig in de afgebeelde, op maat gemaakte metalen houder op acrylsokkel en dient uitsluitend bij de sokkel te worden vastgepakt. Het meet 20,3 × 7,6 × 15,2 cm. Elke foto toont het exacte exemplaar.
