About this specimen

Yunnan stibnite at 10.7 cm; a cabinet crystal. Antimony sulphide: handle the specimen whole, keep it away from children and wash hands afterwards. The blade is brittle — support it along its length.

Stibnite blades bend and tarnish easily, so a bright, undamaged spray is the mark of a good specimen; wash hands after handling.

Yunnan's copper and lead-zinc districts produce the azurite, malachite, pyromorphite, hemimorphite and blue aragonite that define Chinese secondary minerals.

Dimensions place it in the cabinet range, 10.7 × 2.8 × 1.1 cm (4.21 × 1.10 × 0.43 in). The specimen is otherwise sold in the condition shown.

Specimens are photographed and catalogued one at a time before they reach this page.
