About this specimen

Yunnan stibnite at 6.6 cm; a small cabinet piece. Antimony-bearing: wash hands after handling. A spray of stibnite blades in bright metallic steel-grey, each one striated along its length and terminated to a chisel point, radiating from a common base with cream-coloured matrix filling the gaps.

Stibnite is antimony sulfide, forming steel-grey, striated prismatic blades with a brilliant metallic lustre; Hunan and Jiangxi produce the finest Chinese sprays.

Yunnan is China's most mineralogically diverse province, source of the pyromorphite, azurite and blue aragonite that have become collector favourites.

By size it is small cabinet, 6.6 × 5.5 × 4 cm (2.60 × 2.17 × 1.57 in). The specimen is otherwise sold in the condition shown.

Every specimen here is photographed and catalogued individually before listing.
