Over dit exemplaar
Eén waterheldere calciet kroont dit stuk uit Daye; de getrapte vlakken vangen het licht, terwijl het pyriet eronder over een bladerig, bladachtig oppervlak van goud via olijf naar pauwblauw verloopt. Een tweede, veel kleinere calciet nestelt zich aan de rechterschouder. Het geheel staat rechtop, hoog voor zijn standvlak, op een doorzichtig acrylblok.
Daye in Hubei is oud koper- en ijzerland, en zijn sulfideholtes sluiten doorgaans af met een late generatie carbonaat – precies de volgorde die hier bevroren ligt: eerst het metaal, dan de calciet erbovenop. Pyriet is FeS2, messinggeel als het vers is; de kleurfilm over dit exemplaar komt van oppervlakteoxidatie en wrijft makkelijk dof, dus pak het bij de sokkel en laat het metaal met rust.
Compact met 3,8 × 2,5 × 2,3 cm en 20 g, met witte kit bevestigd op de acrylsokkel uit de afbeeldingen. Alles wat u ziet hoort bij deze aanbieding: het stuk zelf en het blok eronder.
