About this specimen

Yunnan pyrite-dusted iron concretion at 9 cm and 674 g; a cabinet sphere. Keep dry. A natural sphere of dark grey iron concretion, its surface evenly speckled with small brassy pyrite grains that sparkle in the light.

Pyrite is the most collected metallic mineral, and the best pieces combine sharp form with a lustre that has not dulled; store it dry to keep it that way.

Iron concretions are rounded iron-oxide nodules that grew around a core in sediment; Yunnan pieces are collected for their sculptural, sometimes pyrite-bearing forms.

Yunnan's copper and lead-zinc districts produce the azurite, malachite, pyromorphite, hemimorphite and blue aragonite that define Chinese secondary minerals.

Dimensions place it in the cabinet range, 9 × 8.5 × 6 cm (3.54 × 3.35 × 2.36 in) and 674 g (23.8 oz). Condition is otherwise as photographed.

Specimens are photographed and catalogued one at a time before they reach this page.

Will I receive the exact specimen shown?

Yes. Every specimen is a single, one-of-a-kind piece, and the photographs show the exact item you will receive — never a stock photo.

Yes — specimens like this form naturally. As is standard in the trade, some pieces are gently cleaned or trimmed; we photograph the actual specimen and describe its origin and condition conservatively.

How is it packed and shipped?

Orders ship worldwide with fully insured, tracked delivery, carefully packed to protect fragile crystals.

Can I return it?

Yes — there is a 14-day return window.
