About this specimen
A small golden pyrite cube rests near the center of broad pale calcite faces. A finer metallic detail sits immediately below it, while subtle layered lines curve across the surrounding white surface. A supplied ultraviolet photograph shows the calcite group under a bright red-orange appearance, leaving the metallic crystal dark. The paired views emphasize both the isolated geometric pyrite face and the striking change in the photographed lighting of its pale supporting mineral. Dimensions: 4 × 2.5 × 3.2 cm / 40 × 25 × 32 mm / 1.57 × 0.98 × 1.26 inch. Estimated weight: 37 g / 1.31 oz, calculated from its dimensions.
