About this specimen
Hubei pyrite at 5.5 cm; a small cabinet piece, priced with the damage disclosed. The supplier did not record a weight. Keep dry.
Iron sulfide with a brass-gold colour, pyrite is heavy, bright and geometrically satisfying, with striated faces on the best crystals.
Hubei's Daye copper-iron mines are famous for calcite, and the province also produces fluorite and quartz from its mountain districts.
