黄褐与蜜色的方解石圆盘像洗牌途中被定格的扑克筹码般堆叠起来，砌成一座小巧的直立塔柱，每一叠各以自己的角度倾斜，使整组标本随着目光向上攀升而不断转向。 同样的板状晶体在侧翼绽成花簇。 表面呈丝绸般的柔润，而非玻璃光泽；当光线自背后透来，最薄的板缘便泛起温暖的光。
藏家称这种形态为桨状或扑克筹码晶习：方解石平铺展开，一板叠一板，其形貌由流体的化学性质所驱动，而非源自矿物本身的对称性。 瑶岗仙的碳酸盐矿物相当常见此种形态，而黄褐色调通常意味着体系中含有少许铁。 莫氏硬度 3、具菱面体解理，板缘是最脆弱的部位——请托住底部取放，切勿抓握突出的扇片。
