雪白的方解石晶体散落在这件湖南小标本上一丛紧密放射的辉锑矿刃状晶体之间，卡在刃片彼此交错的岔口里。 刃片本身从针般纤细到宽阔带斜面的长条都有，每一片都带着那种湿润的金属光泽，让这个矿种隔着一整个房间也认得出来。
辉锑矿是硫化锑，Sb2S3，莫氏硬度 2，比您自己的指甲还软。 刃片弯折、刮伤与断裂的容易程度，远超过它那机械加工金属般的外表所暗示；皮肤油脂会在数月而非数年之内让光泽变钝。 只从底部拿取，绝不擦拭晶体，那面镜子般的表面就能维持现在的模样。
