A tungsten giant near Chenzhou

Shizhuyuan, in the Dongpo ore field of Yizhang County, Chenzhou, Hunan, is one of the world's great tungsten-polymetallic skarn systems — mined for tungsten, molybdenum, bismuth and tin in the contact zone of the Qianlishan granite. Its recorded collector species include fluorite, calcite, wollastonite and andradite alongside the ore minerals.

Why specimens are uncommon

This is a bulk-mining operation first and a specimen source second. Well-crystallized pieces are opportunistic recoveries, not the product — which is exactly why label evidence matters more here, not less. Fluorite and calcite occur at many Hunan localities, including Yaogangxian in the same county, so species and appearance can never substitute for a label.

Reading labels honestly

The full hierarchy is Shizhuyuan Mine, Dongpo ore field, Yizhang County, Chenzhou, Hunan, China. Keep the ore-field level in structured data — the field holds more workings than the Shizhuyuan Mine itself — and fall back to "Hunan, China" when a label supports nothing narrower. Shizhuyuan and Yaogangxian are neighbors, never interchangeable.
