Wafangdian diamond-mining area
A 2020 geological study describes the Wafangdian area near Dalian in Liaoning as China's largest diamond-mining area and reports that it held 52% of the country's diamond reserves. More than 100 diamond-bearing kimberlite bodies have been documented in the district.

Availability
Output is directed mainly to gem and industrial use, so loose collector crystals seldom reach the mineral-specimen market. Wafangdian is therefore better documented as a diamond-producing area than as a display-crystal locality.
