關於此標本
這件雪寶頂小標本上的綠柱石著色極淡——近乎水清，只有當光線斜穿而過時才顯出一抹清冷的藍調。晶體粗短而非針狀，是一個鈍角六方柱，具平整的晶端與玻璃質的斷面，並嵌坐於一叢銀灰色白雲母書頁狀晶體之中，薄薄的雲母片如衣領般在四周展開。
海藍寶石是綠柱石的藍色變種，化學式為 Be3Al2Si6O18，六方晶系，莫氏硬度 7.5 至 8。位於平武縣的雪寶頂，是中國少數產出可供收藏之海藍寶石的產地之一，其晶體的典型產狀正如這一件，嵌生於粗粒雲母之中。色淺的材料被收藏，看重的是對比而非飽和度：襯著灰色雲母，晶體便成為一點光的火花。
標本整體為 3.3 × 3.0 × 2.5 cm，重 31 g。隨附照片中所見的透明壓克力座，以可移除的黏土固定。出售的正是這件小型標本本身。
