一朵乳白色的方解石板狀花結在標本右下方綻開，片片相疊，宛如攤開的書頁。周圍全是炭黑色的岩石，其上密鋪著一層細小無色晶體結成的霜，因此整件標本看起來就像一朵溫潤柔和的花，落在一片閃爍的原野上。右緣高處另有一叢較小的白色晶片。
這種階梯狀、層疊的晶習與內蒙古以花狀方解石之名流通的材料相符，不過本件的確切礦區尚未確認，我們寧可如實說明，也不願臆測。方解石摩氏硬度 3，沿三個菱面體方向解理；它遇稀酸還會起泡，因此請讓家用清潔劑與超音波清洗機遠離，改以軟毛刷除塵。
母岩板尺寸 5.5 × 5.0 × 4.0 cm，重 100 g，不附底座。拍攝時直接以標本本身入鏡、手持呈現，沒有任何替換。
