兩枚水清透明的螢石立方體沿著這件標本錯位並列，其中一枚略微偏離另一枚的軸線，兩者都通透到讓背後的壓克力透了出來。顏色幾乎不存在——只有在最厚處才勉強顯現的一抹淡紫調。靠近右端，暗色的礦物包裹體聚成羽狀的斑片，像懸浮在玻璃裡的墨；而淡色的內部薄紗，則勾勒出埋在現今晶體之中、更早也更小的立方體輪廓。
那些薄紗與包裹體是這件標本最富訊息的部分：每一道都標示著一個後來被覆蓋的生長面，因此晶體保存了自己更早的形狀，以及當時流體中還有些什麼的一幀快照。這種通透度的無色螢石正是香花嶺的標誌。莫氏硬度 4、具完美八面體解理的晶體，需要柔軟的存放環境，晶角上也不容承受壓力。
