關於此標本
紫色聚集在這枚瑤崗仙螢石單晶的外緣，並向內淡去：柔和的丁香紫核心，外圍一圈寬闊的深李紫色帶，再往外是最後一期生長轉為混濁時留下的霜白表皮。立方體晶面呈階梯狀而非平整，一小塊深色的鐵染母岩仍咬在左下緣。
這樣的色帶是水溶液化學變化的紀錄。螢石的紫色來自晶格中的缺陷，而非任何色素，因此每一次生長脈動都鎖進略有不同的色調，而彼此的界線始終銳利如刀。這種礦物是氟化鈣 CaF2，莫氏硬度 4，四個八面體方向解理完全；敲到晶角會迸下一片乾淨的三角形解理片，而不是崩出缺口，因此請托著底部拿取。
尺寸精巧，3.3 × 3.0 × 2.3 cm，重 26 g，隨附照片中所見的淺色石座，讓晶體略微向觀者傾斜。照片裡的，就是將要寄出的那一件。
