光線筆直穿過這件標本頂端的那對立方體——幾乎不帶色調，比起藍色更接近冰色，其中一枚內部懸著灰色的羽狀包裹體，還有一道彩虹在內部裂面迎光處泛開。它們坐在一叢凹凸的橄欖米色晶簇上，晶簇向下收成一個鈍尖，讓標本無需任何幫助便呈現直立的姿態。
這種程度的清澈正是瑤崗仙聲譽的來源：您可以隔著近側的晶面讀出立方體遠側的稜線，而包裹體也不再是瑕疵，反倒像是懸在晶體中央的天氣。螢石（CaF2）莫氏硬度 4，沿八面體方向解理，而那層暈彩正是由此而來——光線在一道從未真正裂開的髮絲狀解理面上互相干涉。
