本標本的深紅色石榴石晶體屬等軸晶系,通常形成晶形明確的十二面體。石榴石的化學式不一,但常見為 (Fe,Mg,Ca)3Al2(SiO4)3,莫氏硬度 6.5 至 7.5,玻璃光澤更襯托其鮮豔的色彩。伴生的是瓷白色的長石晶體,依變種不同屬三斜或單斜晶系,以珍珠至玻璃光澤著稱,硬度約 6 至 6.5。晶簇最後由透明至半透明的煙水晶完成,煙水晶為石英(SiO2)的變種,具六方晶系對稱、硬度 7 與玻璃般的光澤。煙水晶的煙褐色調為明亮的石榴石與長石提供大地色的對比,形成戲劇性的視覺交織。
