關於此標本
顏色藏在內部，而非表面：這些福建晶體每一枚都是煙藍紫色的外殼包裹著深靛藍色的核心，兩枚晶體交疊之處，較深的核心排成一線，宛如墨滴落入玻璃。右側較大的幾枚是立方體，晶角被八面體晶面削去；往左晶體逐漸縮小，成為深灰色岩石上一層砂糖般細密、近乎無色的立方體晶殼。
福建藍紫色螢石——行內稱為坦贊螢石——的外觀來自鮮明的顏色分帶，而非單一均勻的色調，因此從某個角度看幾乎全黑，換個角度卻通透鮮亮。螢石的化學式為 CaF2，莫氏硬度 4，具四個方向的完全八面體解理，因此拿取這樣分量的標本時請握母岩，切勿捏著晶體的角。部分福建螢石在紫外光下有反應；在您親自測試這一件之前，請勿做任何假設。
這是一件分量十足的手標本，尺寸 7.6 × 6.4 × 4.6 cm，重 220 g，拍攝時未使用任何支架。照片中的標本，即為出貨的標本。
