關於此標本
把它舉向窗光，內部便亮了起來。這顆淡丁香紫的螢石立方體大部分通透如水，晶面由淺淺的梯階構成，像一段極小的階梯一級級向中心內收。內部的薄膜閃出微弱的虹彩，粉色與綠色隨角度變換而滑移。第一顆之後還立著第二顆立方體，淺色而鬆脆的母岩邊緣，另露出第三塊紫色碎晶。
那些階梯狀晶面記錄著中斷的生長：一層又一層的 CaF2 沉積時都比下面那層略短，於是留下階梯狀、局部溶蝕的表面，而非鏡面平整的晶面。此處未經任何研磨或拋光——這些梯階是晶體自己對生長經過的陳述。螢石質軟，粗心的握持首先磨鈍的就是這些梯階稜線，因此請握住母岩取拿。
指甲級尺寸，3.3 × 2.8 × 2.3 cm，31 g，適合放入標本盒或陳列櫃層架，不附底座。照片拍攝的正是這一顆晶體，別無他件。
