呈最淺玫瑰丁香紫的深蝕螢石，如魚鱗般層層疊疊爬滿這片湖北小板，每一個晶面都被咬回成脊與凹交錯的網格。少數晶尖仍留著較深的紫色；多數則在蝕刻最劇烈之處褪為乳白，奶油褐色的母岩則以赭色的斑塊透出。
這件標本的重點在質地。礦脈中的後期流體在螢石停止生長之後才開始作用，沿立方體稜邊溶蝕，留下骨架般的浮凸，其散射光線的方式與平整的玻璃質晶面截然不同。螢石僅有莫氏硬度 4，且在四個方向上完全解理，因此這樣一件蝕刻標本在結構上相當脆弱——請托著母岩拿取，避免陽光直射，除塵時用軟刷而非清水。
標本尺寸為 4.1 × 3.6 × 2.8 cm，重 35 g。隨附照片中所示的白色黏土墊與透明壓克力方塊，而這些照片記錄的就是這一件標本，別無其他。
