關於此標本
一枚海綠色的螢石立方體高踞在這件內蒙古板狀標本的左側，晶面玻璃光澤、稜角銳利，內部懸著一個深色的稜角形體——那是晶體早期的生長階段，在中途被凝住，而後又被清澈的綠色覆蓋過去。它周圍的母岩鋪滿了檸檬黃綠與橄欖色的小球，沿著下緣還有三四枚水清透明的立方體，幾乎不帶顏色地映著光。
這樣的幻影記錄了一次停頓。晶體先是生長，接著溶液中發生了變化——另一種礦物的微塵、化學成分的轉變——隨後生長在被覆蓋的晶面上重新開始，把舊有的輪廓永久封存在原處。螢石（CaF2）莫氏硬度 4，並沿四個方向完全解理，因此在擁擠的陳列架上請讓它遠離更硬的標本。
尺寸 4.6 × 3.5 × 2.9 cm，重 57 g，並附上圖中它所立的透明壓克力方塊。這些照片拍的正是此處出售的這一板標本。
