數十顆淡紫色立方體在這件貴州晶簇的頂部擠成一片低矮的穹丘，稜角圓潤、晶面呈階梯狀，彷彿每一顆晶體都是由越來越薄的板片一層層疊築而成。顏色分布並不均勻——少數幾顆近乎清水般透明，另一些則含著煙紫色的核心——下緣則裹著一圈白堊質的母岩外殼。
貴州出產這種柔和半透明丁香紫色調的螢石時，往往以緊密的晶簇形式現身，而不是人們印象中湖南那種碩大的獨立立方體。這件標本未經任何修整或拋光：立方體稜角的圓化來自天然的晚期溶蝕，也正是它讓表面在燈光下泛出砂糖般的閃爍。
這叢晶簇重 40 g，拇指與食指之間即可輕鬆持握。以白色黏土固定在此處所見的透明壓克力方塊上；每一張影像都取自這一叢晶簇本身。
