迎光細看，這件浙江標本讀來像一座低矮的圓丘，淺海綠色的立方體邊接邊密排，密到用手摸比用眼數更容易分辨。晶面呈霜面而非玻璃光澤，使綠色變得柔和並偏向灰調；右端有幾顆立方體保持無色、受光也更好，而沿著底緣，背面帶著一道稀釋般的淡紫色帶。深色母岩與少許赭色沾染在後方收住整件標本。
這層霜面屬於晶體晚期的經歷——最後流經晶洞的熱液把表面重新改造了一遍——而它不該被拋磨掉，因為任何這樣的嘗試都會把圓丘上每一顆立方體的稜邊磨圓。螢石是 CaF2，莫氏硬度 4，具四組完全解理；一把軟毛刷加上乾燥存放，就是它保養的全部。
