關於此標本
迎光舉起，這件北京螢石泛出濃蜜般的光色。塊狀晶體沿著標本整整 9.4 cm 的長度層層疊階向上攀爬，每一枚在變薄處淡成麥稈色，在晶階相互堆疊處加深為溫暖的琥珀。一側的生長轉為乳白色結殼，正是這道清冷的邊，把金色襯托了出來。
螢石的黃色源自 CaF2 晶格內的缺陷與微量雜質，而非任何單一致色元素，所以在同一叢晶簇上，飽和度會隨晶體逐枚變化。本礦種硬度為莫氏 4，沿四個八面體方向完全解理，因此碰到一角時會剝下一片乾淨的三角薄片，而不是留下擦痕。請讓它遠離堅硬的層架，也別與更硬的鄰居擺在一起。
尺寸 9.4 × 2.5 × 4.8 cm、重 185 g，是單手握持恰到好處的標本，拍攝時夾在指間，讓比例一目了然。不附底座。出貨的就是照片裡這一件，不會以相似品替代。
