Über diese Stufe
Eine Tasche mit Azuritkristallen funkelt im Zentrum dieser Stufe in einem so gesättigten Blau, dass es mit dem Licht zwischen Elektro- und Marineblau wechselt; Tausende winziger Endflächen kleiden den Hohlraum aus, und das Funkeln kommt von allen zugleich. Grasgrüner Malachit bildet Krusten und kleine traubige Knoten rund um den Rand, und das Wirtsgestein ist ein dunkles, eisenschüssiges Braun, das das Blau nach vorn schiebt.
Die beiden Minerale sind chemisch nur einen Schritt voneinander entfernt. Azurit, Cu3(CO3)2(OH)2, ist das weniger stabile der beiden und nimmt langsam Wasser auf, um zu Malachit zu werden – deshalb säumt Grün das Blau so oft in ein und demselben Stück. Halten Sie es aus langer direkter Sonne und von trockener Hitze fern, um diesen Wandel zu bremsen, und waschen Sie es nie – ein weicher trockener Pinsel ist alles, was eine solche Druse an Reinigung verträgt.
