Blasser, nahezu farbloser Calcit drängt sich an die Vorderseite dieser Platte aus Daye, glasig und durchscheinend, mehrere Kristalle mit rauchig grauem Kern und einem Anflug von Rostfärbung dort, wo das Wachstum eine Zeit lang unsauber verlief. Sie sitzen vor einer rußschwarzen, rostgestreiften Kruste, und das Aufeinandertreffen der beiden Oberflächen – nass wirkender Kristall gegen matte Kohle – ist das ganze Argument dieser Stufe.
Calcit, CaCO3, hat Mohshärte 3 und teilt sich entlang dreier vollkommener Spaltrichtungen; ein fallengelassener Kristall splittert nicht ab, sondern zerfällt in Rhomboeder – heben Sie dieses Stück daher an seiner dunklen Basis an. Das Angebot verzeichnet Baryt als Begleitmineral; was die Kamera unmissverständlich einfängt, ist der Calcit, dessen Flächen hell genug sind, um Glanzlichter ins Objektiv zurückzuwerfen.
