Violette Fluorit-Würfel sitzen quer über diese Platte aus Guizhou in eine blass zitronencremefarbene Druse gedrückt – nicht als freistehende Gruppe, sondern als einzelne, halb eingebettete und halb hervortretende Kristalle. Jeder Würfel dunkelt an den Kanten nach und hellt zur Mitte hin auf, sodass die Gruppe wie eine Reihe weicher violetter Rahmen wirkt. In der oberen linken Ecke drängen sich farblose Kristalle, und über die gesamte Länge der Basis zieht sich eine braune Verwitterungsrinde.
Diese kantenbetonte Farbe ist Wachstumszonierung: Fluorit setzt Material Fläche für Fläche an, und wenn die Chemie der Lösung pulsiert, hält der Kristall das als dunklere Umrisslinie fest, die durch den transparenten Körper sichtbar bleibt. Sammler achten auf diese Ausbildung, weil sie aus einem schlichten Würfel eine lesbare Wachstumsgeschichte macht. Fluorit hat Mohshärte 4 und spaltet in vier Richtungen – fassen Sie die Platte deshalb an der Rinde an, nicht an den Kristallen.
