Sobre este espécimen
Un único cubo de fluorita transparente como el cristal —con el más leve matiz de azul hielo y las aristas escalonadas como una talla de cristalería— se equilibra sobre una roseta de láminas de mica moscovita en tonos oliva y plata procedente de Xuebaoding, Sichuan. Cristales de fluorita más pequeños se agrupan en la base de la mica y completan una composición compacta y muy ordenada.
La fluorita incolora de Xuebaoding vive a la sombra de sus famosas scheelitas y aguamarinas, lo que mantiene asequibles piezas como esta; pero la transparencia que se ve aquí iguala a la de material mucho más caro, y el pedestal de mica la exhibe como si la hubieran colocado a mano.
Mide 3,9 × 3,7 × 4,1 cm y pesa 67 g. Natural y sin tratar; las fotografías muestran el ejemplar exacto.
