Apra una delle pesanti lame di stibina dell'Hunan ed ecco che cosa può attenderla all'interno: una cavità foderata di sottili aghi argentei che si irraggiano in stelle irregolari, ciascuno tanto brillante da sembrare bagnato. Le pareti intorno sono stibina massiva, striata per il lungo e divisa in ampi piani grigio acciaio, mentre croste di barite bianca si accumulano nella metà inferiore della cavità, incuneate attorno e sotto la base degli aghi.
La stibina è un solfuro di antimonio, Sb2S3, e uno dei minerali più teneri che un collezionista possa possedere: durezza Mohs 2, tanto tenera che un'unghia la segna, con sfaldatura perfetta per tutta la lunghezza di ogni ago. I grassi della pelle opacizzano le superfici metalliche, quindi sollevi il pezzo dalla matrice grigia e lo tenga lontano da luce intensa e aria umida, che col tempo spengono la lucentezza dei solfuri di antimonio.
L'esemplare misura 7,6 × 7,4 × 5,1 cm e pesa 225 g, e poggia saldamente sulla propria base sfaldata senza alcun supporto. Le fotografie sono state realizzate a partire da questo esemplare, aghi compresi.
