Adagiati in basso in un letto di muscovite verde argenteo pallido, due cristalli di scheelite color miele e ambra mostrano facce a gradini e una lucentezza appena resinosa, con il colore che si fa più intenso verso l’arancio bruciato dove la luce attraversa i bordi più spessi. I libretti di mica sottostanti si aprono verso l’esterno in cunei sovrapposti, freddi e opachi contro i cristalli caldi. La scheelite più grande mostra il profilo pseudo-ottaedrico appiattito che la specie assume quando gemina.
La scheelite è tungstato di calcio, CaWO4, uno dei due minerali principali da cui si ricava il tungsteno, e in mano risulta sorprendentemente pesante per le sue dimensioni: il peso specifico si aggira intorno a 6. Sotto ultravioletto a onda corta risponde con un intenso bagliore bianco-azzurro, fra le risposte fluorescenti più affidabili di tutta la mineralogia. Con durezza da 4,5 a 5 Mohs si graffia senza troppa fatica, e la matrice di mica è ancora più tenera.
Compatto, 3,8 × 3,3 × 3,3 cm per 80 g, riposa sul proprio letto di mica e non viene fornito con alcun supporto. Qui è fotografato l’unico esemplare in vendita — nessuna sostituzione.
