Xuebaoding, Sichuan, scheelite at 3.4 cm and 23 g; a miniature. A golden-orange scheelite crystal with glassy faces grown free as the supplier notes.
Scheelite is calcium tungstate, forming orange to honey-coloured bipyramids with a greasy lustre and a bright blue-white fluorescence under short-wave UV.
Xuebaoding in Pingwu County is the classic Chinese source of scheelite, aquamarine and cassiterite on muscovite, mined from high-altitude greisen veins.
