Xuebaoding, Sichuan, aquamarine at 7.1 cm and 179 g; a small cabinet piece, priced with the damage disclosed. A flat pale blue-green aquamarine with deeply etched, frosted faces, the etched aquamarine the supplier names; the supplier notes some faces are damaged.
Aquamarine is the blue-green variety of beryl, forming hexagonal prisms with flat terminations; the Chinese material from Xuebaoding and Yunnan pairs it with muscovite and cassiterite.
Sichuan hosts Xuebaoding, Jinkouhe and Leshan, sources of aquamarine, scheelite, prehnite, gypsum and the epidote-quartz skarn specimens seen here.
Dimensions place it in the small cabinet range, 5.8 × 3.4 × 7.1 cm (2.28 × 1.34 × 2.80 in) and 179 g (6.3 oz). Disclosed condition: some damaged faces. The price reflects it and the photographs show the affected area. The specimen is otherwise sold in the condition shown.
