Inner Mongolia QR-code purple-framed fluorite with quartz at 29 g; a miniature that shows its pattern best back-lit.
Chinese fluorite has become a staple of modern collections for its sharp crystal faces, strong colour and a lustre that reads well from across the room.
Good quartz is about hexagonal prisms with clean terminations and the glassy lustre that lets a cluster catch light from every angle.
The Huanggangliang skarn district of Inner Mongolia is one of the great mineral finds of the 21st century, known for fluorite, calcite, garnet and rare species.
Dimensions place it in the miniature range, 3.8 × 3.4 × 1.8 cm (1.50 × 1.34 × 0.71 in) and 29 g (1.0 oz). Otherwise the piece is sold exactly as photographed.
