What it is known for
The Naica lead-zinc-silver mine's hydrothermal caves, notably the Cave of Crystals, grew translucent selenite beams metres in length; the mine also yielded fine anhydrite and sulfides.
What collectors look for
Selenite from Naica — water-clear blades and groups — is the prize; museum-grade material is now scarce since the caves flooded after mining ceased.
