深寶藍色的藍銅礦以糖粒般細密的結殼鋪展在這件標本上，任何角度都能反射出點點閃光，而在陰影凹褶處則暗沉近黑。綠色的纖維狀簇叢——孔雀石，也可能是矽孔雀石——沿著稜脊生長，並深入右側一處開放晶洞，一道赭褐色的鐵氧化物細脈正橫切過藍色區域。
藍銅礦與孔雀石同屬鹼式碳酸銅，綠色往往是藍色的後繼者：藍銅礦在漫長的地質時間裡吸收水分而轉變為孔雀石，因此這樣一件標本正好捕捉到反應進行到一半的瞬間。兩者都很軟，摩氏硬度 3.5–4，而藍銅礦最好避免長時間直曬。本件產地尚未確認，綠色礦種也未經檢測，因此我們將兩者都如實列為未解的問題，而不加以臆測。
