兩枚蜜金色的晶體在此彼此穿插生長，較小的一枚倚在較大者的肩上。兩者皆呈半透明至近乎透明，寬闊的晶面上刻滿細密的平行條紋，將表面切分為淡香檳色與暖琥珀色的條帶。它們之下是一道薄薄的橄欖黃色晶簇岩台，安坐於一層帶紫調的被膜之上——那是這一對晶體生長其中的晶洞最後的遺存。
方解石（CaCO3）的晶形之多，幾乎勝過其他任何礦種，而福建的晶洞傾向賦予它這樣寬闊、鈍圓、佈滿條紋的晶面，而非藏家慣常期待的鋒利複三方偏三角面體晶尖。莫氏硬度 3，在三個方向上具完全的菱面體解理：裸露稜邊上的一次碰撞就可能崩下一整片乾淨的平面，因此請托著母岩取放標本。
體積小巧，4.1 × 3.8 × 2.5 cm，重 35 g，略向前傾斜陳列最能展現條紋在掠射光下的效果。這些照片拍攝的是手持中的這件標本，也正是將送達您手中的那一件。
