這裡的紫幾乎是墨：一組連生的塊狀螢石立方體，顏色濃郁到光線只能從最薄的外緣逸出，在那裡色調揚起成淡紫色，個別稜角上則轉為透明的霜白。晶面呈階梯狀並帶有淺淺的蝕痕，每個塊體都由彼此錯開不到一毫米的小方塊組合而成，溝槽裡還嵌著幾處黃褐色的鐵染小點。
螢石這樣深的顏色來自 CaF2 晶格中的缺陷，而非任何色素——本該是氟的位置出現空缺，捕捉住電子，吸收掉光譜中黃綠色的那一半。貴州的料子往往正是如此：緻密、深沉、緊密連生，結構感勝過寶石感。莫氏硬度 4 加上八面體解理，使稜角格外脆弱，因此請從底部托起，而不要捏著稜邊。
