一顆淡海綠色的螢石立方體，玻璃般通透到能看見內部懸浮的雲白色薄紗，緊楔在一叢珍珠光澤的板狀方解石旁，兩者沿著一道由包裹體微晶構成的暗色接縫相遇。螢石晶面讀來近似海玻璃；其後的方解石則盡是層疊的花瓣，中段絲滑，薄緣半透明。
接觸關係正是這件標本的重點。位於湖南南部的郴州是螢石產區，而在這裡，第二種礦物自同一個空洞中緊貼著立方體長成，並且在把彼此自地底取出的過程中都未受損。請留意兩者的硬度落差——螢石莫氏硬度 4，方解石莫氏硬度 3 且具完全菱面體解理——存放時務必避免任何東西擦過那些方解石板片。
